Storm & Insurance
Questions

Everything Northern Virginia homeowners need to know about storm damage, insurance claims, HAAG inspections, and what working with Golden Goose Roofing looks like.

Storm Damage & Insurance

In most cases, yes — wind and hail damage is covered under standard homeowner's policies as a sudden and accidental loss. Coverage depends on your specific policy, deductible, and roof age. The best first step is having an inspection completed so you understand the scope of what occurred. From there, you decide whether to file a claim with your carrier.

It means exactly what it says. We come out, inspect your property, and document what we find at zero cost to you. You are under no obligation to hire us or take any action afterward. If we find no damage we'll tell you. If we do find damage we'll walk you through what we observed. No pressure — period.

Most Virginia homeowner's policies require claims to be filed within two years of the date of loss — and the clock starts the moment the storm ends, not when you notice damage. Regardless of your exact window, acting sooner is better. Damage worsens over time and documentation is most accurate immediately after an event.

Storm damage claims are generally classified differently than at-fault claims, and a single weather-related claim typically has little to no effect on your premium. That said, every policy and carrier is different. We recommend reviewing your specific policy or speaking with your insurance agent before filing to understand how it may be treated under your coverage.

The assessment is completely free — full stop. You don't owe us anything unless you decide to file a claim and move forward with restoration work. If you do, for most homeowners with a qualifying storm damage claim, your only out-of-pocket cost is your insurance deductible. Golden Goose handles all contracting work directly through your approved claim scope.

A denial isn't necessarily final. Our HAAG Certified documentation gives you a strong foundation to request a re-inspection or dispute the outcome. We can provide additional documentation to support your case. For formal claim negotiation or dispute representation, a licensed public adjuster or attorney is the appropriate resource — and we're happy to point you in the right direction.

HAAG Certification & Our Process

HAAG Engineering is the leading authority on roof and structure damage assessment in the United States. HAAG certification trains inspectors to accurately identify and document storm damage with technical precision. Insurance carriers and adjusters widely recognize HAAG-certified reports as credible and thorough — making them a strong foundation for any damage documentation you submit to your insurer.

Absolutely — and we strongly encourage it. Adjuster day is game day for us. We bring our full documented inspection, walk the property alongside the adjuster, and ensure every finding we recorded is reviewed on-site. As your contractor we're there to answer questions about our scope and estimate and make sure nothing we documented gets overlooked.

A licensed public adjuster is specifically authorized to represent policyholders in insurance claim negotiations. As a roofing contractor, our role is to inspect, document, and restore your property. We provide thorough damage documentation and high-quality repairs — but we do not negotiate claims or represent you with your insurance carrier. If you need that level of advocacy, a licensed public adjuster is the right professional for that role.

All restoration and installation work performed by Golden Goose Roofing is backed by our 10-year workmanship warranty. This is in addition to any manufacturer material warranties that apply to the products installed on your property. We stand behind every project we complete.

We typically respond to assessment requests within 1 business day and schedule visits as quickly as possible — especially after a significant weather event in the area. Fill out our contact form or call us directly at 540-848-4551 and we'll get you on the schedule.

We handle the full exterior scope — roofing, siding, gutters, windows, doors, exterior trim, and water loss rebuild. We serve as your general contractor for the entire restoration, which means one point of contact, one coordinated project, and no gaps between trades. For retail projects we also offer all of the above plus general contracting services.
